Background
Swaythorpe Growers is a partnership of over 70 family farms across a wide area of East and North Yorkshire, spanning the Yorkshire Wolds down to Holderness. Many of our farmers are second or third generation pea growers, and their experience and devotion to the land helps to make our peas taste sweeter.
We supply our crops to Darta Yorkshire who operate a state-of-the-art freezing facility in the heart of our growing area.
A Journey of Collaboration
Darta Yorkshire Ltd is a joint venture between Swaythorpe Growers Ltd, GWE Biogas Ltd, and Darta UK Ltd. GWE Biogas operate an anaerobic digester that neighbours Darta Yorkshire, which takes all the organic waste from the facility and uses this to produce green energy, supplying the facility with all its power requirements. Darta UK is a leading frozen food company and provides the vegetable freezing and marketing expertise.
This joint approach allows us as growers to work extremely closely with the factory to get the best for us and our consumers, while producing the greenest of green peas!
In addition to the Yorkshire site, the Darta group has processing sites strategically located across Europe, in Belgium, Portugal, Italy and Sicily.
